Genoa Color Technologies Names Former Philips VP as Executive Vice President Opens Hong Kong Office
Herzlia Pituach, Israel-October 25, 2004- Genoa Color Technologies, a company whose ColorPeak™ MPC (multi-primary color) technology virtually doubles the color gamut and brightness of television, computer and mobile display systems, has appointed former Philips executive Hafiz Haq executive vice president. Mr. Haq will be based in Genoa’s newly established Hong Kong office.
“Hafiz Haq is an important addition to our executive team,” said Genoa CEO Ilan Ben-David. “As an emerging company we will benefit from his experience and extensive contacts in the U.S. and Europe, as well as Asia---and his in-depth knowledge of numerous OEM markets, especially the display sector, is a major asset.”
An electrical engineer, Mr. Haq during his 33-year career at Philips held various VP-level positions and specialized in global marketing and business development in the field of electronic components and flat displays. He was instrumental in many key decisions at Philips including the creation of LG.Philips LCD and the launching of several companies and business projects. He has been the chairman of the Foreign Trade Committee of the European Electronics Components Association and a member of the governing board of the United States Display Consortium. He has also served on the board of directors of UNAX and Rainbow Displays, both display technology start ups. He will be based in Hong Kong and lead the company's activities in the Asia Pacific market.
“I am excited about joining Genoa, a company that is about to literally change the face of the television and computer display industries,” said Mr. Haq. “Flat displays and projection systems are high-growth markets and manufacturers are urgently seeking ways to differentiate themselves from the competition. I believe that Genoa’s ColorPeak™ MPC solution offers users a dramatically more vivid picture than what is currently available in today’s RGB-based television displays.”
Genoa uses advanced real-time algorithms and modifications to the color display elements to translate existing video data into multi-primary color, recreating the three-dimensional gamut of film. The result is a much larger range of color and up to 40 percent higher brightness efficiency than what is possible using the prevalent model. This month, Genoa began shipping the first of its MPC-enabling chips.
